Valentine’s day is just around the corner and it’s going to come faster than you know it. This year, let’s decorate your home to get into this lovely and festive mood! This will be fun for those that are single, dating, married, or have a family! Let’s spread love to everyone who enters your home.
Heart Ceiling
Let’s fill your heart with love and create a wonderland of hearts in your home! We mentioned a similar DIY when it came to xmas decor, so get ready for the swap of snowflakes for hearts! Here’s what you’ll need:
- String
- Scissors
- Construction paper (of any colors!)
- Tape
This is an easy and fun DIY! First, cut our some hearts from your construction paper. You’ll want to make lots! Then, you’ll want to cut pieces of string that are about 5 inches in length. You’ll use a piece of tape to tape the heart to the string, and then another piece of tape to tape the string to the ceiling. You’ll start filling your entire ceiling with beautiful hearts! It will be a forest of love.
Heart Garland
This is a sweet decor piece that can wrap around your stair banister, in front of the fireplace, or even hung over your front door! Similar to the heart ceiling, you’ll need a couple of the same supplies!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Twine
- Scissors
- Construction paper (of any colors!)
- Hole Punch
- String
Steps:
First, cut out heart shapes using your construction paper and some scissors. Next, take the hole punch and bunch a hole in the top of every heart. You’ll then want to cut out a piece of string to pull through the hole of the herat and tie it in a small loop. After you have a couple of hearts looped, take your twine and cut it to your desired length and begin looping your hearts onto the string.
Once your twine is filled with hearts, it’s time to hang up your garland!! This is a sweet and minimalistic decor piece that will add a perfect Valentine’s accent to your home.
Heart Paper Chain
This is a great DIY if you have kiddos! Easy, fun, and interactive leading up every day before Valentine’s day! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Construction paper
- Tape
- Scissors
- Optional: Markers
Steps:
- Cut multiple pieces of five inch long, 1.5 to 2 inch wide strips of construction paper.
- Take two pieces and tape one end in the curvy top of a heart together, and tape the point of the bottom of the heart together.
- You’ll make another heart but this time you’ll loop each heart inside one another and continue to tape.
Continue looping and taping until you have a long chain of hearts linked together! Create as many hearts as there are days left until Valentine’s Day. Each day, you’ll unchain one heart until you’re on Valentine's day! As an extra bonus, you can write one good act of kindness or love on each heart, that way you can commit to doing one kind thing leading up to Valentine’s Day.
Kissing print
This one is a fun and easy DIY decoration! A little extra x’s and o’s to fill your home! Her’s what you’ll need:
- 8x10 or 9x12 watercolor paper
- 8x10 or 9x12 frame
- Lipstick (a couple of different colors)
All you need to do is apply lipstick and pucker up! Add some smooches to the print over and over again until your print is covered in a cute, lip stained pattern. This is a fun print to hang in your room, or even front decor in your foyer! Frame it up and have some fun!
Valentine’s Card Mailbox
This is a sweet one for the family and is so simple! Everyone loves receiving a nice Valentine’s Card and it’s especially fun when you can deliver one to a special Valentine’s Day mailbox! Here’s what you’ll need:
- An empty shoe box or tissue box
- Marketers, paint, stickers, etc.
- Scissors
Grab your empty box and use the scissors to cut out a hole in the top of the box. If you are using a tissue box, you already have one premade!
Next, you’ll want to decorate your box! Write everyone’s names, draw hearts, paint or splatter paint, you name it! You can’t go wrong. You’ll just want to make it as festive as ever.
Next, tell you family members that when they create a valentine to nam it accordingly and drop it in the mailbox. Then, on Valentine’s day, one person will need to be in charge (or multiple) to help distribute the valentines! You can reuse this box again and again, year after year. Who knows, it might be a family staple that you bring out every year to create more memories!
Have fun this Valentine’s season and treat yourself to a little fun. These loving decor ideas will bring memories to come.
