Vacation Essentials – Top 8 Things You’ll Need

By Katy Sommerfeld

It’s 2019, folks, and this year is already starting to fly by – in fact, in just a few short weeks, spring will officially be here! Do you have any plans for a relaxing, adventurous spring break vacation? It’s time to start booking hotels and flights and time to get excited for the spring season!

No matter where you’re vacationing this spring, there are some items that you’ll need to bring on your trip that are essential, and we’ve compiled a list of the top 8 so that you can stop planning like crazy and start getting excited for an awesome vacation!

  1. Sunscreen

Whether you’re going to the beach or on a ski trip in the Rockies, sunscreen is a must to preserve a healthy complexion and to prevent harmful UVA and UVB rays from damaging your skin. Pack a sunscreen with either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as its active ingredient to ensure the highest level of protection!

  1. Chargers

How many times have you hopped in the car and drove off on a road trip, only to realize 30 minutes down the road that you left your charger at home? It’s the worst feeling, and having to buy a new charger can be expensive. Try this instead of dealing with a forgotten charger: the night before you leave, charge your phone before bedtime and put your charger in your car. This way you won’t find yourself a couple hours from home with a dead battery and no GPS!

  1. Healthy snacks

One of the best things about road trips can be the junk food. Gas station indulgences like soda and candy can have us reminiscing of childhood treats enjoyed on the wide-open road. However, these tasty delicacies can have us feeling pretty badly after a while, and it’s always a good idea to get some healthy snacks, such as water, nuts, and fruit to keep a balanced diet!

  1. Rain jacket

When on vacation, it’s always a bummer when it starts to rain. It’s even worse if you’re unprepared for the downpour. Make sure you pack a rain jacket or an umbrella on your next trip – that way you can still go out and explore local shops and restaurants without getting soaked!

  1. Cozy sweatshirt

Even if you booked your trip in hopes for the warmest weather possible, it’s always a good idea to bring along a cozy sweater for when you’re lounging around your hotel room or Airbnb. Don’t forget to pack one in your suitcase or wear it in the car or airplane for extra comfort!

  1. Headphones

There’s nothing that can make a road trip go faster like music and podcasts. Don’t leave behind those headphones! Take them out to the beach or on a hike and listen to your favorite artists or a good book to help you relax and give you inspiration.

  1. Water Bottle

Bring along a reusable, insulated water bottle on your trip to save money and to help the environment by avoiding buying plastic water bottles. Most stores and restaurants and hotels have water fountains, so refilling your bottle will be a breeze.

  1. Deck of cards/board games

Sometimes boredom on vacations is inevitable. If you’re traveling with kids especially, bringing a deck of cards or board games can be an excellent way to spend a few hours when you’re too tired to go out.

Don’t forget these essentials when you take your next trip this spring. Always remember to prioritize self-care and relaxation while traveling. These 8 essentials will definitely help you to be more relaxed and have more fun on vacation!

Make some new memories, and be sure you don't forget to capture them. They're likely on digital media, but don't forget about those old home movies and pictures from past vacations. Send them in to get them digitized
